Laverne Staab

LaVerne Staab, of Waukesha, died on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at Avalon Square at the age of 88. She was born in Waukesha on August 14, 1921 the daughter of Everett and Mildred (nee Clausen) VanAlstine. On June 15, 1947, she married Larry Staab at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church; he preceded her in death on September 5, 1972. LaVerne was a 1939 graduate of Waukesha High School and a graduate of the Whitewater State Teachers College. She began teaching in Shawano then taught for 25 years at Calhoun School and later at New Berlin Center School until her retirement in 1987. She was awarded the Merit of Service award by Governor Tony Earl. LaVerne was a very patriotic American and was the past president of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a longtime member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. She will be deeply missed by her children: Kathleen (Walter Sansom) Fillon of Waukesha, Gary (Laurie) Staab of West Bend, Tim (Donella) Staab of Clermont, FL, Terry (Debbie) Staab of Waukesha, and Jack (Diane) Schmehil of Oconomowoc, her seven grandchildren: Scott (Christina) Fillon of San Jose, CA, Lisa (Bill) Brazelton of Waukesha, Kimberly Charney of Kewaskum, Emily Staab of Telford, PA, Nick Staab of Waukesha, Melissa Staab of Waukesha and Brian Staab of Waukesha, and six great-grandchildren. She is further survived by a niece and nephew, other relatives and many friends. In addition to her husband Larry, she was preceded in death by her sister Winifred (Harry) Krueger, her special aunt Irma Clark, her cousin Cy Ferrick and her parents. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 from 4:00 until 7:00PM with the funeral service at 7:00PM all at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Avenue, Waukesha. Pastor Glen Schaumberg will preside. Graveside services will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, June 17, 2010 at Prairie Home Cemetery. Please meet at the cemetery office. If desired, memorials are appreciated to Trinity Ev.
