Lillian Theresa Eckstein, of Waukesha, formerly of Wales, was born to Eternal Life on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at the Virginia Health & Rehabilitation Center at the age of 92 years. She was born in Milwaukee on December 13, 1920 the daughter of the late Louis and Mary (nee Kohl) Zarnsy. On January 27, 1940 she married Victor Eckstein Sr. and together they shared 51 years together until his death on July 13, 1991. Lillian worked for many years in housekeeping at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital. She was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in Genesee Depot since 1942 where she was active in the Christian Mothers. Lillian loved being part of the Wales community and was a 4-H leader, volunteered as a poll-worker in Wales and was a member of the Wales Firemen Auxiliary.
She will be sadly missed by her children: Gertrude (the late Gerald) Zacharek of Oregon, Kathleen (the late Tony) Hernandez of Chicago, the late L. Sharon Pomasl, Vivian (Roger) Banks of New Jersey, Barbara Howitt of Waukesha, Frank (Betty) Eckstein of Eagle, Mary (David) Newman of Michigan, Maggie (James) McCormick of Wales, Patricia (Mike) Kokan of Eagle, Victoria (Dale Huebner) Eckstein of Waukesha, the late Ann Draves and Victor (Diane) Eckstein of Rubicon, along with 28 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her sister Marion Rindt of Waukesha, her sons-in-law Tony Pomasl and Albert Draves, her sisters-in-law, Ursula Schiller, Judy Eckstein, Pat Simmerman and Grace Eckstein along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband Victor and her daughters Ann Draves and L. Sharon Pomasl, she was preceded in death by her brother Eugene and her sister Dorothy.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2013 from 4:00 until the 7:00PM vigil service at the Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Avenue, Waukesha. Visitation continues on Friday, April 19, 2013 at St. Paul Catholic Church, S38 W31602 Hwy D, Genesee Depot, WI 53127 (corner of Hwy D & Hwy 83) from 10:00AM until the 11:00AM funeral Mass. Reverend Mark Molling will preside. Graveside services will immediately follow at Salem Cemetery in Wales. If desired, memorials in Lillian’s name are appreciated to St. Paul Catholic Church.
