Lois J. Tanis of Waukesha passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 at Hartland Terrace at the age of 92. She was born on June 24, 1926 in Indianapolis, IN the daughter of Clyde and Mary Ellen (nee Mossman) Scott. On October 5, 1946 she married Charles “Chuck” Tanis, Jr in Homewood, IL; he preceded her in death on September 16, 2010. Lois was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church for over 45 years. She enjoyed playing in three bridge clubs and was a member of the LOBS Club.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Barbara Tanis of Menomonee Falls and her children Annie and the late Justin, Susan L. (Bill Holdorf, Jr.) Tanis of Waukesha and her daughter Angela (Tyrone) Powell, C. Scott (Jane) Tanis of East Troy and their daughters Haley and Rachel, and Beth (Bill) Tanis-Durkin of Genesee and their daughter Liza. She was the dear great-grandmother of Addie, Gus, Zave, Redd and Koen and great-great-grandmother of Auggie, Remy and Calvin. She is further survived by 4 siblings, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband, Charles, and her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. A private service and interment will be held on Wednesday at Prairie Home Cemetery with Pastor Andy Fetters presiding.
