Louis V. Dowdle, of Waukesha, died on Monday, March 14, 2016 at Seasons Hospice at age 83. He was born in Lockesburg, Arkansas on December 6, 1932 the son of Tommie Mitchell and Bess Faye (nee Bracket) Dowdle. Louis proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of the Tin Can Sailors and the American Legion DJ Martin Post #8. Louis owned and operated Dowdle Drywall for many years. He loved to golf, was an avid football fan and enjoyed serving as the assistant coach for the Waukesha North Junior Football team.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 59 years, Rose (nee Cecil) Dowdle of Waukesha and their children, Chester “Chet” (Patricia) Calhoun of Plano, IL, Teresa Funmaker of Waukesha, Curtis (Vickie) Dowdle of Eagle and Kaylene Lee of Waukesha. He was the dear grandfather of Chad (Patricia), Amy (Joshua), Tiffany, Jan, Shanna (Juan), Russell, Kiel, Eric, Timothy (Kathryn), Kaity, Nikolaus and Jakob and great-grandfather of Angel, Alexeandrea, Clayton, Jasmine, Micah, Lynea, Cameron, Braden, Elianna, Scarlet, Leocadia, Breyden, Kaitlyn, Landen, Liam and Asher.
He is further survived by his sister Bonnie Lou Goodson, his brother Thomas “Sonny” Dowdle along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Betty Sue Phillips and Hilda Louise Dowdle.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 18, 2016 from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. Visitation continues at the Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home on Saturday, March 19, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the 10:00 a.m. funeral service. Entombment with full military honors will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Elmbrook Humane Society, 20950 Enterprise Ave., Brookfield, WI 53045.
