Lt. Col. James W. “Jim” Frederickson (retired) of Waukesha, died Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Merrill Hills Manor at the age of 81. Jim was born on December 26, 1930 in Stambaugh, MI, the son of the late William and Anna (Cowling) Frederickson. He was a 1948 graduate of Stambaugh High School and a 1952 graduate of Michigan Tech., in Houghton, MI, receiving his degree in Mechanical Engineering. Jim proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force where he completed pilot training. He continued as a pilot in the Illinois Air National Guard, retiring in 1978. During these years, he was also employed as an Engineer for Amoco Oil Company in Whiting, Indiana. He retired from Amoco in 1985. He was a member of Elmbrook Church in Brookfield and of the VFW. He was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge and the American Legion. Jim married his wife Molly (nee Hayes) in 1952. They were married for 42 years and she was the mother of his children, James S. Frederickson, Michael J. (the late Elena) Fredrikson and Karen M. (Bruce) Kubal. Molly preceded him in death in 1994. He is further survived by four grandchildren, Kristina, Kaitlin, Eugine and Nikolas, two stepsons Kevin (Cecily) Broaddrick and Timothy (Susan) Broaddrick, one great-grandchild Logan and eight step-grandchildren. Jim married Judith “Judy” (nee Garrett) in 1999. They traveled extensively the first several years of their marriage until he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and struggled with this devastating disease for many years. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife, other relatives and friends. Burial with full military honors will be held in the Spring of 2012 at Stambaugh Cemetery in Stambaugh, MI.
