Luz E. Alvarez of Waukesha was born to Eternal Life on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Lynnwood of Delafield at the age 77. She was born in Puerto Rico on January 20, 1939 the daughter of Baltazar Cruz Irizarry and Isabel Cortes Andujar. On July 10, 1955, she married Ramon Alvarez Sr. in Utuado, Puerto Rico; he preceded her in death on October 9, 2005. She was a longtime member of St. William Catholic Church. Luz loved crocheting, sewing and was an outstanding seamstress. She was also an excellent chef and loved cooking meals for her family.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Irma (Jesus Martin) Mesura of Waukesha, Nyrma Hyland of Waukesha, Ramon (Grace) Alvarez Jr. of Wales and Ana Alvarez of Waukesha, her grandchildren, Ernie Hunkins of Waukesha, Jeremy Hyland of Waukesha, Jason (Jessica) Hyland of Delafield, Ramon (Katie) Alvarez III of Hartford, Eric Alvarez of Milwaukee, Carly Hunkins of Waukesha and Miguel Alvarez of Wales and her great-grandchildren, Juliano, Meghan, Julianna and Kelton. She is further survived by Raquel Torres Rodriguez and family, the Kok’s Family, by many children she inherited as her own and their families, her brothers Diomedes and Noel Cruz, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband Ramon Sr., she was preceded in death by her granddaughter Christie Hunkins.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Lynnwood of Delafield for being the angels they were in caring for Luz and to Hometown Hospice for their excellent care in Luz’s final days.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 18, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the 7:00 p.m. vigil service at the Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. Visitation continues at the funeral home on Saturday, November 19th from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. followed by a procession to St. William Catholic Church, 440 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha for the 10:30 a.m. funeral Mass. Father Jose Nieto will preside. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
