Mabel Bloede Winchester, a lifelong Waukesha resident, died on Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Avalon Square at the age of 104. She was born on March 28, 1910 the daughter of William and Mary (nee Mike) Bloede. Mabel worked for the Waukesha Motor Co. as a secretary for more than 40 years. Following retirement, Mabel and her husband Leslye moved to Stuart, Florida. Following his death, Mabel returned to the Waukesha area and became one of the first residents at Avalon Square. She was a longtime and oldest member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church and a member of the Ladies Elks Waukesha Lodge #400. Mabel enjoyed golfing, knitting and traveling and she always had a special place in her heart for her nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She will be sadly missed by her nephews John Bloede, Mark (Carol) Bloede and William (Carol) Bloede all of Waukesha and her nieces June (Joseph) Jackson and Doris (James) Kramer both of Waukesha. She is further survived by her great-nephew Gregory (Rebecca) Bloede, her great-nieces, Kirstin (Mike) Steffens, Mari Bloede and Ashley Bloede along with other great-nieces, great-nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Leslye in 1989, by her sisters Lorraine Oestreich and Erma Carr, and her brothers Edward and Ervin Bloede.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 22, 2014 from 10:00AM until the time of the 11:00AM funeral service at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 300 Carroll Street, Waukesha, WI 53186. Pastor Gary Liedtke will preside. Graveside services will immediately follow at Prairie Home Cemetery. Memorials in Mabel’s name are appreciated to St. Luke’s Lutheran Church.
