Maria Ascension Paz (nee Rodriguez), of Waukesha, died unexpectedly in her home on March 1, 2017 at the age of 60. Maria was born on May 2, 1956 in Weslaco, Texas to Cirilo and Juana (nee Armijo) Rodriguez. She was a graduate of Waukesha South High School and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a major in Elementary Education and a minor in Bilingual Education. She married Juan Paz on February 4, 1977 in Whitewater, and just celebrated 40 years of marriage. She worked for 26 years at Cooper Power Industries (RTE Components). Maria dedicated her life to community service. She was a City of Waukesha poll worker since 1988, Waukesha Police Reserves since 2002, and on the Parish Counsel at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. She loved her husband, kids, grandkids, family, her work with the reserves and was passionate about working with the church.
Maria is survived by her mother Juana Armijo de Rodriguez of Waukesha; husband Juan Paz Sr. of Waukesha; children Monica (Keith Hunkins) of Waukesha, Angelica (Troy) Klug of Waukesha, Juan (Kristen) Paz Jr. of Menomonee Falls, and Ramiro (Naomi) Paz of West Bend. Dear sister of Evangelina “Tina” Dennis of Waukesha, Irene (Jose) Godina of Waukesha, Juan Eduardo Rodriguez of Waukesha, Cirilo (Julia) Rodriguez Jr. of Columbia, MO, Alicia (Alex) Silva of Waukesha, Pedro (Kelly) Rodriguez of Waukesha, Gloria (Desmond Jones) Rodriguez of Waukesha, and Braulio (Lori) Rodriguez of Mukwonago. Proud grandmother of Catalina Sylvia Paz, Kaiden William Hunkins, Brandon Alan Klug, Aaliyah Jasmine Klug, Troy Anthony Klug Jr., Jaedyn David Paz, Makaela Teresa Paz, Xander John Paz, Celina Marie Paz and Bella Maria Paz. She was preceded in death by her father Cirilo Rodriguez Sr., and sisters Sylvia Rodriguez and Maria Ascencion Rodriguez.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 6 from 4:00 p.m. until the 8:00 p.m. Rosary service at Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave. Waukesha. Prayers will begin at the funeral home on Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. followed by the procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 822 N. East Ave. Waukesha 53186 for the 9:00 a.m. funeral Mass with Fr. Javier Bustos presiding. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
