Maria Trinidad Ocampo

June 20, 1943 — September 28, 2018

Maria Trinidad Ocampo of Waukesha passed away peacefully on Friday, September 28, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family at the age of 75. She was born in Buenavista de Cuellar, Guerrero, Mexico on June 20, 1943, the daughter of Dimas and Dolores (nee Botello) Arizmendi. Maria married the love of her life, Miguel, in their hometown in 1966 and soon after, they moved to Waukesha. Miguel preceded her in death on March 4, 2008. Maria was a woman of strong faith, a devout Catholic and longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was extremely proud of her Mexican heritage, instilling the values, culture, and Spanish language in her children. One of Maria’s top priorities was education for her family. As a result, she had a strong work ethic and often worked three jobs to ensure her children received the best education, sending them all to St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Waukesha, Catholic Memorial High School, and Carroll University. She was an excellent cook, loved family get-togethers and parties, enjoyed singing and especially enjoyed being with her grandchildren, who affectionately referred to her as “Nini.” Maria had a big heart and could always be counted on to help family members and friends. Always filled with spunk, she was known for her high energy, sense of humor, and zest for life. Above all, her greatest joy in life was her family, and she was a beloved wife, treasured mother of five and cherished grandmother of nine.

She will be sadly missed by her five loving children, Zulema (Chris) Hauer of Brown Deer, Judy (Jose Luis) Uribe of Waukesha, Miguel (Sarah) Ocampo of Mukwonago, Dolores (James) Brown of Menomonee Falls and Dimas (Lisa) Ocampo of Brookfield; and her dear grandchildren, Isabel and Andrew Ocampo, Marco-Antonio and Miguel-Angel Uribe, Jimmy, Lucia and Benny Brown, and Natalia and Matteo Ocampo. She is further survived by her brothers and sisters, Toño, Berta, Yolanda, Luz, Eva, Dimas and Edith along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and numerous friends. In addition to her parents, and her beloved husband Miguel, she was preceded in death by her sisters Marta and Elvia.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. funeral Mass all at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 822 N. East Ave., Waukesha. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Waukesha. Maria's favorite color was purple. In her honor, please wear purple or bright colors.
