Marian G. Salter of Waukesha passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, August 24, 2018 at the age of 99. She was born in Waukesha on October 12, 1918 the only child of Rollin and Theresa (nee Frank) Schley. Almost all of Marian’s life was spent in Waukesha and she lived through much of the city’s history. She grew up in a neighborhood where her childhood friend was Les Paul. At a young age, she started working for the Dr. Roberts Company in Waukesha and later became his step-daughter when he and her mother married. She lived through much of the drama firsthand of what was then the life of Dr. David Roberts and always had interesting stories to tell of those years. Later in life, she was fortunate to travel to many destinations and always enjoyed meeting new people along the way.
To her children, she was a true treasure who graced us with her love, support, and amazing disposition. She never met a stranger and had a special ability to make everyone feel welcome and loved in her presence.
Marian was preceded in death by her parents, Rollin and Theresa Schley and both of her husbands, Alexander Powers and Lee Salter. She will be lovingly missed by her children, Ronald (Anna) Powers of Oregon and Pat Slane of Waukesha along with other relatives and many friends. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers and remember her as the person she was.
A very special thank-you is extended to ProHealth Hospice and their staff for all their excellent care and compassion. Also, to all her friends who offered their loved and support. We are forever grateful.
At Marian’s request, no funeral services will be held. Private interment will be at Prairie Home Cemetery.
