Marija Bjegovich-Weidman DNP, MSN, RN, CCAP
Sunrise August 10, 1958 - Sunset May 30, 2024
Beloved mother of Alek and Alena, fun grandmother to Myles, partner of Bob Weidman, sister of Vaso (Diane) and Jovan (Ione), aunt to Joseph and Lucia and daughter of Vaso (deceased) and Elaine Bjegovic. She dearly loved and was loved by a multitude of friends and caregivers too numerous to list.
Marija’s life was defined by her unwavering dedication to her patient’s care and comfort as well as their family’s. Her selflessness and compassion were evident to all. She approached each day with a genuine desire to create a better and more positive place for everyone.
Marija worked in oncology at Aurora Healthcare for 38 years where she successfully developed and lead the oncology program across the state of Wisconsin then transitioned to Marquette University where she taught Culture and Health in their Nursing program. While teaching she earned her DNP (Doctor of Nursing Practice) degree.
She brought an amazing experience to Marquette with the Human Library which will be kept in their curriculum. To support this program we ask, that in lieu of flowers, you consider donating to this program, “Todo Amor y Servir” ,translation “To Love And Serve In All Things”. This is a part of the Marquette Mission and Ministry program. For this she was voted, by her DNP classmates, to receive the inaugural “Ignatius Educator Of Distinction” award for excellence modeling the Jesuit Spirit.
She was a lifelong learner and avid traveler.
She served as coordinator at the OAAA, planning, organizing and overseeing activities related to the outreach priorities of the City of Milwaukee Office Of African American Affairs advancing the Health Literacy Project and providing support for the Milwaukee Fatherhood Initiative located at OAAA.
She was a Member of the board of “El Amor De Patricia” and made several trips to Guatemala with her children to deliver necessities to the needy there.
Her favorite quote, by which she lived her life is, “BE THE CHANGE YOU WISH TO SEE IN THE WORLD”, attributed to Ghandi.
Our family wishes to thank all of you for your dedicated, much needed and leaned on, love and support through her difficult last year.
With love and gratitude, The family of Marija
