Marjorie Geraldine Rose Carr Evans of Burlington, formerly of Waukesha, died Monday, March 30, 2009 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 90. She was born on March 1, 1919 in Rome, Illinois, the daughter of Charles and Josephine (Droll) Rose. Marjorie was valedictorian of her graduating class at Chillicothe High School in Peoria County, Illinois, and went on to study at WCTC. Marjorie was united in marriage to William M. Carr on August 1, 1937; he preceded her in death 1966. She later married Milo Evans on January 22, 1977; he preceded her in death in 2008. As an avid accordion player, she enjoyed playing with a polka band. She especially enjoyed music, which included directing a Sweet Adeline’s group in Waukesha for many years. Along with her husband Milo, she belonged to the NCHA (National Campers and Hikers Assoc.) and Wisconsin Retirees Campers. Marjorie will be sadly missed by her children: Gary (Phyllis) Carr of Burlington, Stephen (Cheryl) Carr of Bessemer, MI, Stan (Sue) Carr of Bessemer, MI, and Peggy (Joe) Shafer, Mexico; grandchildren: Mark (Mary) Carr, Marcia (David) Brown, Margaret (David) Baumeister, Marjorie Karlinsky, Michelle (Cesar) Martinez, Jeff Carr, Paul (Maija) Carr, Chris (Lorrie) Carr, Kimberly (Dan) Carr, Tony Marshman, Elizabeth Sarver, and Jennie (Sam) Sternhagen; 29 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husbands, she is preceded in death by her son, Robert Carr; grandchildren: Marlyne Ahnert and Michael Carr; brothers and sisters: Edna Rogers, Gladys Friedrich, Stanley Rose, Everett Rose, Virginia Richards, and Robert Rose; and her parents. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2009 from 9:30 AM until the 10:30 AM funeral service at Southminster Presbyterian Church, 200 Richard St., Waukesha, WI, 53186, with a luncheon immediately following at the church. Graveside services will take place at 2:00 PM on Thursday at Delafield Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Southminster Presbyterian Church (address above).
