Marlea C. Weiss

After a struggle this past year with pancreatic cancer, God called home Marlea C. Weiss on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at age 80. She spent her final days at AngelsGrace Hospice in Oconomowoc. The family would like to recognize the wonderful care the staff at AngelsGrace gave Marlea during her stay.  She was born in Marinette, WI on February 17, 1943, the daughter of Gerhardt and Myrtle (nee Bullion) Duescher. Marlea was a 1961 graduate of Waukesha South High School.  On August 5, 1961, she married her beloved husband, James “Jim” Weiss. Marlea worked as a library aide for Bethesda Elementary for many years until her retirement in 2005. She was an active and devoted member of Reformation Lutheran Church where she was involved with the book club and bible study. Marlea was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends.

She will be sadly missed by her husband of 62 years, Jim of Waukesha and their children, Michael (Lori) Weiss of Detroit Lakes, MN, Patrick (Jodie) Weiss of Waukesha and David (Patty) Weiss of Dousman. She was the proud grandmother of 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Mary Sue Eichstadt.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 25, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. memorial service at Reformation Lutheran Church, S39 W32887 Co Rd D, Dousman, WI 53118. After the memorial service a luncheon will take place, also at the church. Graveside services and interment will be at 2:00 p.m. at Prairie Home Cemetery. Please meet at the cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials in Marlea’s name are appreciated to Reformation Lutheran Church or to AngelsGrace Hospice.
