Marlene M. Crouse, of Waukesha, died on Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at the age of 74. She was born in Waukesha on September 3, 1939, the daughter of Anton and Erna (nee Turkoske) Spelich. She graduated from Waukesha High School in 1957. On November 7, 1959, Marlene married Jerry, her beloved husband, who preceded her in death on March 7, 2012.
Marlene will be sadly missed by her loving sons, Gerald “Jay” (Renee) Crouse, Jr. and James “Jim” (Jori) Crouse, grandchildren; Tiffany, Ryan, Taylor, Courtney, Austin, Adam and Jared. She is further survived by her sister-in-law, Joan (the late Thomas) Spelich, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother, Tom Spelich.
Marlene was a member of First United Methodist Church in Waukesha, where she was a Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of the Waukesha American Legion Auxiliary #8. Marlene worked at First National Bank of Waukesha and Waukesha Savings and Loan.
Marlene was a member of the Waukesha Elks Ladies since 1979, where received the Elk Lady of the Year Award in 1981-1982. She served as the First Lady of the Waukesha Elks Lodge in 1986-1987 and 2005-2006. She also served as Treasurer, Vice President, President Elect and President of the Waukesha Elks Ladies. She was Past President of the Waukesha Elks Ladies Bowling Association. Marlene received the Wisconsin State Elk Lady of the Year Award in 2005-2006. She served as First Lady of the Wisconsin Elks Association in 2000-2001. She was Vice President and President of the Wisconsin Elks Ladies Advisory Committee and Past President and Director of the Elks Ladies Bowling Association (ELBA). Together with her husband, Marlene received the Wisconsin Elks Major Project Award for Outstanding Contributions to Elkdom from 1991 to 1994 and the Past Exalted Rulers Award in 2006-2007 from Waukesha Elks Lodge #400.
Marlene was a woman of faith, courage, commitment, honor and integrity.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff in the Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Department at Waukesha Memorial Hospital and Rehabilitation Hospital of Wisconsin for their outstanding care and compassion.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 15 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 South Grand Avenue, Waukesha, Wisconsin 53186. Visitation continues on Saturday, August 16 from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. funeral service, at First United Methodist Church, 121 Wisconsin Avenue, Waukesha, Wisconsin 53186.
