Marlene Mae Schultz (nee Staab) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 24, 2015, at the age of 77. She was born on July 2, 1938, and lived her whole life in Waukesha, WI. She was the daughter of Oscar and Esther (Kern) Staab, both of Waukesha.
Marlene was a founding employee of the K-Mart store on Sunset Drive and retired from there after 26+ years. She then found a new work family at Safe Harbor Computers in Waukesha, owned and run by one of her daughter’s friend’s parents, Dennis and Mary Hoffman.
She was a faithful member of Ascension Lutheran Church for 36 years. Her joys in life included spending time at the cabin on Little Silver Lake, traveling by motorcycle cross-country with her husband, camping at the EAA Fly-In and at motorcycle rallies, reading romance novels, and watching her soap operas. Later in life, she became an international traveler, visiting Jamaica with her husband and Safe Harbor coworkers, Canada, and England to see longtime British friends, Trevor and Pam Quick.
The light of her life were her two grandsons, Thomas Hickman and Jeffrey Betker, and her precious poodle, Lucky Elvis. She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Allen R. Schultz, also of Waukesha; her three daughters, Connie Betker of Waukesha, Nancy (Jim Carter) Hickman of Waukesha, and Kalyca Schultz of Roanoke, VA; one son, Jim Schultz, of Waukesha; her two grandsons; her special cousin and best friend, Barbara (Jack) Cain of Illinois; and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Joyce Thomae, and her only granddaughter, Katrina Alexandria Hickman.
The family thanks the caring and attentive staff of Three Pillars Senior Living Communities in Dousman.
