Mary Jessie Gonzales of Waukesha was reunited with her husband, Jose “Blackie”, her parents and sister Margie, on Friday, August 16, 2019 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her family, at the age of 89. She was born in Malakoff, TX on March 17, 1930 the daughter of Isabel and Maria (nee Reyes) Barron Sr. On October 27, 1955 she married Jose "Blackie" B. Gonzales at St. Joseph Catholic Church; he preceded her in death on Sept. 30, 2005. Mary was a woman of strong faith and enjoyed volunteering at St. Joseph Catholic Church where she was a member of the Augustinian and Guadalupe Societies. She enjoyed cooking, singing, loved gardening, and was an avid reader. Along with her husband, she had a passion for dancing and helping coordinate the Mexican dances at the Muskego Beach Ballroom. Mary lived life to the fullest and had a great sense of humor. Her greatest joy was her family which she was so proud of and she was happiest when they were all together.
She will be sadly missed by her loving children, Robert (Penny) Gonzales of Waukesha, John Gonzales of Waukesha, Patti Gonzales of Waukesha, Josie (Pedro) Camargo of Reno, NV and Jose “Joey” Gonzales of Waukesha. She was the dear grandmother of Corey Gonzales, Gina (Shannon) Stangel and Lucas Gonzales; Allison and Brittany Gonzales; Christopher Gamroth, Samantha (Oscar) Hernandez and Mitchell Gamroth; Anthony and Alex DeLeon, and Isabella Camargo. Proud great-grandmother of Ciara and Mason Stangel; Ariana Gonzales; Andre and Citlali Hernandez; and Gabriel, Xavier and Nina DeLeon. She is further survived by her brother, Albert (Olivia) Barron, sisters, Viola (the late Nemesio) Lomeli, Isabel Jr. (Janie) Barron, Dolores (Norman) Ciszek and Lydia (Fermin) Rivera, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband Jose, she was preceded in death by her sister Margaret “Margie” Barron.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 23, 2019 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. followed by the funeral Mass at 3:00 p.m. all to be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 822 N. East Avenue, Waukesha, WI 53186. Private burial will be at Prairie Home Cemetery.
