In 1951, after teaching English in Lodi WI, she married Ensign Gerald Huelsbeck USN. After living in various parts of the United States, she returned to Waukesha after the untimely death of her husband in 1959.
Her life of volunteerism included work with Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and also Sunday school at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church where she served on the church council and in various other capacities during her lifetime membership.
She served a term as president during her thirty-five years of active membership in the Waukesha Service Club which aids the sick and the needy in Waukesha County. Later she took a turn as President of their Senior League where she was a member until the time of her death. In addition, she enjoyed her friends, her Bridge Clubs, the Happy Bookers, her Bible Study group and her world-wide travel. Her love for cats was well known.
But she was often heard to remark that she derived her greatest pleasure from her children with whom she enjoyed so many good times. The very best, so blessed was she!
