Mary Jean Huelsbeck

October 27, 1928 — July 16, 2019

Mary Jean Huelsbeck died on Tuesday, July 16th at Seasons Hospice. Born in 1928 in Platteville, WI, she was the daughter of Dorothy Diestler and George Hillary.
She grew up in Waukesha and graduated with honors from both Waukesha High School, and Carroll College. In high school she was co-editor of the Gold Star Megaphone (yearbook) which was dedicated to those who gave their lives during WWII. She was also an Honored Queen of Job’s Daughters Bethel #10.
At Carroll College she was a charter member of the Theta Delta chapter of Chi Omega, and later their president. She was also a member of Sigma Epsilon Sigma, and Sigma Tau Delta.
In 1951, after teaching English in Lodi WI, she married Ensign Gerald Huelsbeck USN. After living in various parts of the United States, she returned to Waukesha after the untimely death of her husband in 1959.
Her life of volunteerism included work with Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and also Sunday school at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church where she served on the church council and in various other capacities during her lifetime membership.
She served a term as president during her thirty-five years of active membership in the Waukesha Service Club which aids the sick and the needy in Waukesha County. Later she took a turn as President of their Senior League where she was a member until the time of her death. She was also president of the Carroll College Alumni Council at one time and a charter member of the Friends of Carroll.
In addition, she enjoyed her friends, her Bridge Clubs, the Happy Bookers, her Bible Study group and her world-wide travel. Her love for cats was well known.
But she was often heard to remark that she derived her greatest pleasure from her children with whom she enjoyed so many good times. The very best, so blessed was she!
She is survived by daughter, Diane Adams, of Rockton, IL, son, Steven Huelsbeck of Milwaukee and son-in-law, Richard Adams as well as many precious friends and her sweet little cat Chloe.
For the last four years she enjoyed good friends and good care at Oak Hill Terrace.
