Mavis Ellen Vitse

Mavis E. Vitse, of Waukesha, died on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at West Allis Memorial Hospital at the age of 82. She was born in Houston, MN on December 4, 1931 the daughter of Sidney and Emma (nee Lee) Todd. On November 27, 1948 she married Irving Vitse in LaCrescent, MN; he preceded her in death in 1992. Mavis was a former member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Grafton where she was part of the Women’s Guild and the PTA at St. Paul School. She was currently a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Waukesha. Mavis loved quilting and made many teddy bears. She loved storytelling, especially to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Mary (Peter) Kopp of New Berlin, Patricia (Larry) Ziemer of Mt. Horeb and Alan (Nancy) Vitse of Grafton. She was the proud grandmother of Bethany (Walt) Gola of Lake in the Hills, IL, Daniel (Patricia) Kopp of Waukesha, Cale (Liza) Ziemer of Wauwatosa, Carrie Donahue of Madison, Nick (Elizabeth) Vitse of Grafton and Tyler (Lindsay) Vitse of Grafton and her great-grandchildren, Joe, Mia Mavis, Tom, Sidney, Aldo, Cecilia, Greta, Laurel, Mason and Leah. She is further survived by her sister Shirley (Roger) Johnson of Houston, MN, her sisters-in-law Donna Todd of Janesville, MN and Jean Manske of LaCrosse along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday June 16, 2014 at St. Luke Lutheran Church 300 Carroll St. Waukesha, WI 53186 from 10:00 AM until the memorial services that begin at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Grafton.
