Max Hilmer

Hilmer, Max E. Of Waukesha passed away on March 20, 2015 at home. Max is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ethel, and children Max Jr., Kyle, Dean and Heidi. Max was born in Buena Vista, Wisconsin in 1927 to Harold Hilmer and Adelia Ferguson. He was raised on the nearby family farm. Max graduated from Stevens Point High School in 1945 and served in the Navy in WWII. After discharge from the Navy he attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison for his Bachelors and Masters degrees. In 1948 Max married Ethel Wherritt, his high school sweetheart. Max and Ethel moved to Waukesha in 1958 and Max started teaching mathematics at Brookfield Central High School. Max and Ethel taught overseas in Nigeria, England, Indonesia, Pakistan, Brazil, and Venezuela for 10 years. Their retirement years were spent at their northern Wisconsin cabin and traveling the country with their 5th wheel and friends.
