Merlin “Hans” J. Nader, of Waukesha, died on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Seasons Hospice at the age of 93. He was born in Waukesha on April 3, 1921 the son of Frank and Myrtle (nee Marks) Nader. He was a 1941 graduate of Waukesha High School, a 1949 graduate of Carroll College and earned his master’s degree from Marquette University in 1955. Hans was an outstanding athlete in high school and at Carroll College where he played football, basketball and track & field. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp and on June 10, 1950 he married Rosemary Bach. Hans started his teaching career at PJ Jacobs High School in Stevens Point. He went on to become a US History Teacher and administrator at Bay View High School for many years where he also served as the head basketball coach and assistant football coach. He retired from teaching in 1985. He was a member of the American Legion DJ Martin Post 8 and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church since 1948. Hans loved nature, flowers, gardening, animals and cooking. He was a very selfless person, always putting others before himself and will always be remembered as a wonderful husband and father.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 64 years, Rosemary and their children Cynthia Nader and Gregory Nader all of Waukesha. He is further survived by his brother Warren (Marlene) Nader of Waukesha, his sister Harriet (the late Charles) Schuldt of Waukesha along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters and their spouses, Franklin (Lillian), Beulah Eichstadt, Verna (Orlo) Treppish, Delores (Carl) Flemming, Jerome (Genevieve), Delbert and infant brother Gerald.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 from 10:30AM until the time of the 11:30AM funeral Mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 822 N. East Avenue, Waukesha, WI 53186. Father Bill Key will preside. Burial with full military honors will take place Tuesday at 2:00PM at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 21731 Spring St., Union Grove, WI 53182.
