Myron “Mike” M. Jahnke of Waukesha died on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at Avalon Square at the age of 79. He was born in Watertown, WI on March 16, 1937 the son of Oscar and Violet (nee Witte) Jahnke. He was a 1955 graduate of Watertown High School and a 1959 graduate of Carroll University where he was a member of the TKE Fraternity. On July 23, 1960, he married Charlene Zick and together they celebrated 56 years of marriage together. Mike worked for Wisconsin Electric as a materials manager from 1960 until his retirement in 1994. He was proud of his German heritage and he was passionate about researching genealogy. Mike was very community minded and along with his wife enjoyed volunteering as drivers for Meals on Wheels. He was a current and active member of the Waukesha Noon Kiwanis and served on the boards of many charities including United Way, Kiwanis and the Salvation Army. Mike was a member of Southminster Presbyterian Church and was a Deacon at First Presbyterian Church and on Session at both First Presbyterian and Southminster Presbyterian. He was an avid golfer and bicyclist but most of all he loved being with his family.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Charlene of Waukesha and their children, Robert Jahnke of Chicago, IL, Richard Jahnke of Tampa, FL and Ronald (Chris) Jahnke of Waukesha and grandfather of Michael (Mandy) Jahnke, Michelle Jahnke, Jacob Jahnke and Ethan Jahnke. He is further survived by his brother Kenneth (Ellen) Jahnke of Texas along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Delores and Darlene.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 7, 2016 from 12:00 noon until the time of the 2:00 p.m. memorial service at the Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. Reverend Dr. Christian Boyd will preside. Interment will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery.
