Myrtle L. Kennedy of Waukesha was born to Eternal Life on Monday, March 19, 2018 at her home one week before her 97th birthday. She was born in Madison, WI on March 26, 1921 the daughter of Christian and Magdalena (nee Petrie) Matson. She proudly served her country in the United States Army as a Staff Sgt. with the 111th Airborne Photographic Division during WWII. On December 8, 1948 she married Donald Kennedy at the St. Joseph Rectory; he preceded her in death on November 10, 2002. Myrtle was a pioneer at Wisconsin Bell Telephone Company where she worked as an operator for 35 years. She was a charter member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Kathleen Mary (Richard) Kuhnen of Madison, Daniel Brian (Cheryl Lynn) Kennedy of town of Ottawa, Sally Ann Kennedy of Waukesha, Kevin Mark (Gerette) Kennedy of Waukesha and Mary Margaret (Timothy) Conway of Waukesha, her grandchildren Patrick (Barbara) Kennedy, Christopher (Amanda) Kennedy, Tarin, Donald, Colleen and Erin Kennedy, and Caitlin, Devin, Kenneth, Madeline and Joseph Conway and two great-grandchildren, Arlo and August. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband Donald, she was preceded in death by her son Timothy in July of 1951 and her siblings, Adeline, Lucille, John and Lorne.
Visitation will be held on her 97th birthday, Monday, March 26, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. until time of the 12:00 noon funeral Mass at St. Mary Catholic Church, 225 S. Hartwell Avenue, Waukesha, WI 53186. Father Chuck Wrobel will preside. Burial with full military honors will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Memorials in Myrtle’s name are appreciated to HAWS, 701 Northview Road, Waukesha, WI 53188.
