It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Nancy M. (nee Colon) Mojica, a devoted mother, grandmother, and true lover of life. Nancy left this world on January 5, 2025 with her family by her side, leaving behind a legacy of unconditional love, endless kindness, and fierce loyalty. She was born in Orocovis, Puerto Rico on July 28, 1959, the daughter of Jeronimo and Manuela (nee Serra) Colon. On February 28, 1989, she married Hector Luis Mojica, Jr. Nancy was a highly dedicated professional who served Waukesha County for 35 years. She was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waukesha. Every year, she donated to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital.
Nancy was the beating heart of her family, dedicating her life to her greatest joy: her children. Her love for them was boundless, and she found pure delight in watching them grow, cheering them on in every triumph, and comforting them in every storm. Her proudest role, however, was being “Grandma” to her precious grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Every milestone, every laugh, every hug from them was a treasure she held close to her heart. She was an amazing hija, sister, tía, wife, mother, abuela, and great-grandmother.
Beyond her family, Nancy had another true love: the Green Bay Packers. Sundays in the fall weren’t just days—they were sacred events filled with green and gold, cheeseheads, and a passion so infectious you couldn’t help but join in. Whether they were up by 30 or down by 3, Nancy cheered with all her heart, loyal to the end. Sports were her outlet, her joy, her connection to the thrill of life. Whether it was baseball, basketball, or watching her grandkids play their sports, Nancy could often be found on the sidelines, clapping her hands and shouting, always the loudest and proudest fan in the crowd.
Nancy was a friend to everyone she met, the kind of person who mad you feel like you belonged. Her laugh was contagious, her hugs warm, and her advice full of honesty, wisdom and love. She had an uncanny ability to brighten the darkest days and bring people together. As we mourn the loss of Nancy, we also celebrate her incredible life. Though our hearts ache, we take comfort in knowing she is now in eternal peace. Her love was a gift to us all, and her spirit will live on in every touchdown, every shared laugh, and every cherished memory.
She will be sadly missed by her husband, Hector, along with their children Maya Colon, Alex Mojica, Yareliz (Jordan) Waage and Jonathan Mojica. Dear grandmother of Nancy (Camryn Gouger), Hayley, Anely, Brooklyn, Harrison, Cheveyo, Cheyenne, Buliwyf, Walter, and brand-new twins Mabel and Olive (born January 8). Wonderful great-grandmother of Sage. She is further survived by her sister Lury Colon, other relatives and friends. All will carry her memory and the values she instilled—love, kindness, and perseverance. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Paula “Cuca” Acosta. The Mojica Family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude for the love everyone has shared.
A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until the 2:00 p.m. funeral service at Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave. in Waukesha, where we will gather to honor the remarkable woman she was and the joy she brought to the world. Burial will take place on Monday, January 20, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Cemetery. Please meet in the chapel.
