Nicholas S. Krmpotich of Waukesha died on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at the age of 83. He was born in Duluth, MN on May 30, 1935 the son of Nicholas S. and Barbara (nee Pribonic) Krmpotich. Nicholas earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota Duluth and later went on to receive his master’s degree. On November 24, 1962 he married his beloved wife, Lillian Stoffel in Duluth, MN. He taught middle school and high school English in the West Allis and West Milwaukee School Districts retiring in 1992. Nicholas was an active member of the WEA Teachers Union for many years. He was a master carpenter and enjoyed working part time as a contractor during retirement. As a longtime member and past president of The Slovenian Chorus - Uspeh, Nicholas toured Europe and Slovenia. He was president of the Montello Lake Association and worked with the DNR to help control invasive species in Montello Lake. Nicholas was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where he served on the parish council and was a member of the Waukesha Elks Lodge #400. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, photography, reading, history, politics, golfing and travel. In retirement he loved to spend time at the family cottage in Montello and when the weather turned cold, he and Lillian would join their friends in sunny Arizona.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of almost 56 years, Lillian of Waukesha and their beloved son Nicholas S. (Erin) Krmpotich Jr. of Maple Grove, MN and three cherished grandchildren, Ethan, Shea and Gavin Krmpotich. He is further survived by other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Katherine Stinson and Mary Pogorelec.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha from 4:00PM until time of the 7:00PM Elks Lodge of Sorrow Service. Visitation continues on Thursday, November 8th at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 822 N. East Avenue, Waukesha from 10:00AM until time of the 11:00AM funeral Mass. Memorials are appreciated to Marquette High School or Waukesha Catholic.
