Norma Jeanette Herbrand (nee Johnson) died Thursday, October 4, 2018, at Kensington Care and Rehab Center at the age of 86. She was born on August 2, 1932, in West Allis to father John and mother Thelma (nee Gustafsson) Johnson. Norma married George E. Herbrand on June 11, 1955 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church; he preceded her in death on November 30, 2011. She was Salutatorian of West Allis Central High School in 1950 and graduated from Carroll College in 1954 with a B.A. in History. She led a life of purpose. Her commitment to education, learning and service to others was lived through her family and faith.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Lars Johnson, sister Eva Siuda (nee Johnson), and husband George E. Herbrand.
She will be missed by her sons Jay (Laurie) of Merced, California, Jon (Virginia) of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, and Joel (Heidi) of Waukesha, Wisconsin. She is the dear grandmother of Michelle, Jason, Jacob, Abby, and Hannah and great-grandmother of AnnaMarie, Gabriel, Noah, Gunther, and Norah. She is further survived by brother-in-law Warren Herbrand, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
The family would like to thank Kensington Care and Rehab Center and Kindred Hospice staff for their care and kindness over the years.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 8, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until time of the 7:00 p.m. funeral service at Christ the Servant Lutheran Church, 2016 Center Rd., Waukesha, WI 53189. A private family burial will be held at Prairie Home Cemetery.
