Norman “Norm” L. Zimdars a longtime Waukesha resident and retired deputy sheriff passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 following a brief illness surrounded by his family at AngelsGrace Hospice at the age of 77. He was born in Milwaukee on July 3, 1941 the son of Robert and Lorene (nee Gillard) Zimdars. Upon graduation from high school, Norm proudly served his country in the United States Army Military Police. He went on to have a highly respected career as a deputy sheriff for Waukesha County for over 40 years, retiring in 2005. On September 3, 1995 he married his wife Barbara (nee Jarmuz). Norm enjoyed nature and loved being outdoors, whether it be tending to his garden, taking care of the birds or saving the chipmunks. He loved animals, had a big heart and was always willing to help others in need. Norm will always be remembered for his kind and gentle nature and as a loving husband, father, grandfather and dear friend.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 23 years, Barbara of Waukesha, his beloved children, Tracy (Denise) Zimdars of Brookfield, Kimberly (Wayne) Matthiesen of Delafield and Brian (George) Zimdars of Franklin, his step-daughter Christine Charneske of North Prairie and his cherished granddaughters, Marisa Matthiesen, Amanda Matthiesen, Hannah Zimdars, Nora Zimdars and Natalie Matthiesen. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 10, 2018 from 3:00PM until time of the 6:00PM funeral service at the Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Avenue, Waukesha. Full military honors will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Norm’s name are appreciated to HAWS (Humane Animal Welfare Society), 701 Northview Road, Waukesha, WI 53188.
