Onh Chanthavixay age 73, died peacefully on Tuesday March 22nd, 2022, in Waukesha, WI, surrounded by her husband, sons, daughter, and nephew. Onh was born and raised in Luang Prabang, Laos on August 8th, 1948 and immigrated to the US on February 23rd, 1980 after being sponsored by the Christ United Methodist Church of Deerfield, IL and more specifically her host family Jim and Carly Hellen and their sons David, Jimmie, and Scott, whom she was always very grateful for.
Onh was the most amazing cook and “feeder” of everyone who stepped foot in her house. All her children’s friends wanted to learn how to cook from her especially her homemade noodles soups, sauces, and egg rolls to name a few. Everyone that knows her knows the first thing she will ask or say to you when you walk in is “Go eat” “Did you eat” or “Go eat more”. Food and feeding people were her love language and she had a lot of love to give! She had a boisterous sense of humor and was the life of the party. Her laughter filled a room and there was always singing and good-natured banter to go around. Celebrations moving forward will be lacking her big loving, and selfless personality but there will always be memories and moments to share about Onh, a wife, mom, sister, aunt, Ma Tao, Grandma, Ngah, and friend to everyone.
Onh is survived by her husband of 55 years, Bounnhong Chanthavixay, three sons Outhiya(Shannon Le), Anouphong(Niramone), Toto(Jamie) and daughter Tory(Ben) Koetterhagen. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren Sydney, Colton, Isabel, Raya, and Pailynn whom she loved to care for and spoil. She is also survived by her older sister Douangkeo Phanthavong of Strasbourg, France, who lovingly raised her in Laos and was a second mother to Onh. Onh has many nieces and nephews in France, Germany, Canada, and around the US who love her dearly and she shared many moments of laughter and memories with. She is preceded in death by her mother Kaen Phongdara and her father Thiphanh Phongdara, brothers Pheng, Ouanh, Phang, Phay, and Pane Phongdara.
Funeral services will take place at Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha, WI 53186 on Tuesday March 29th, 2022, with visitation beginning at 12:00pm followed by a cultural Buddhist ceremonial chant at 1:00pm and Eulogy to follow.
