Ophelia Mindiola of Waukesha passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at AngelsGrace Hospice on Friday, December 29, 2017 at the age of 81. She was born in San Antonio, TX on April 17, 1936 the daughter of Simon and Francesca (nee Castillo) Martinez. On April 5, 1952 she married her loving and devoted husband, Stanley Mindiola. Together they owned and operated Mindy’s Tap on The Strand for many years where Ophelia earned many awards for her delicious Mexican cuisine. She made the best tortillas and won the tortilla rolling contest at La Casa de Esperanza many times. She enjoyed working as a teacher’s aide at Whiterock School and loved to collect angels. Most of all she loved her family dearly and especially cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren.
She will be sadly missed by her beloved husband of 65 years, Stanley of Waukesha and their children, Stanley (Kelly) Mindiola Jr. of Waukesha, Lupe Mindiola of California, Celia (David) Reinke of Franklin, Tim (Wendy) Mindiola of Waukesha, Daniel (Susan Coogan) Mindiola of Waukesha, Andrew (Selina) Mindiola of Oconomowoc and her daughter-in-law Kimberle Mindiola. She was the proud grandmother of Sarah, Shannon, Meggan, Melinda, Corrina, Stanley III, Timothy, Jeremiah, Danny, Alyssa, Jacob, Leah and Camryn and great-grandmother of Aria, Beau and Bella. She is further survived by her brother Mike Martinez, sisters Amelia Calderon, Bonnie Garcia, Lupe Miller and Mary Martinez along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her son Ralph, her parents and three brothers.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the nurses and staff of AngelsGrace Hospice for their kindness, compassion and care provided to Ophelia and their family in her final days.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the 7:00 p.m. memorial service at the Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. Burial will be held at a later date at St. Joseph Cemetery in Waukesha. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to AngelsGrace Hospice, N74 W35908 Servants’ Way, Oconomowoc, WI 53066.
