Pastor Leslie W. Becher Sr., of Waukesha, died on Thursday, March 17, 2016 at his home at age 91. He was born in Ephraim, WI on April 23, 1924 the son of Theodore and Valeska (nee Freudenstein) Becher. He served his country in the United States Army Air Corp. On September 13, 2014, Leslie proudly went on a Stars and Stripes Honor Flight to Washington, DC. On May 11, 1968 he married Ruby Jaeger. He worked for Unigas (formerly LP Gas) as a bulk driver retiring after 36 years. Leslie was the pastor at Genesee Apostolic Tabernacle since 1976. He loved spending time at the church and remained active there until his unexpected death. He enjoyed traveling, camping and fishing and spent many summers in Door County cherry picking with his family. Most of all, he loved being with his family and he will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather.
He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of almost 48 years, Ruby of Waukesha. He was the loving father of Carol (Ken) Schiebe of Florida, Beverly (the late Don) King of Washburn, Les Becher Jr. of Mukwonago, Linda Grinder of Kenosha, Kathy (Ron) Mitchell of Milwaukee, David Becher of Waukesha and Bill Becher of Waukesha. He was the dear grandfather of Shawna (Jason) Sletten, Shiloh (Heather) Becher, Travis Mitchell, Justin (Kerry) Mitchell, Rose (Alex) Mondragon, Molly (Gustavo) Calderon, Karen Grinder, Eric King and Ashley Kriedrowski and 21 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his sisters Loretta McGuire and Margaret Thompson.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:45 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 7:00 p.m. all to be held at Genesee Apostolic Tabernacle, W313 S4214 Hwy 83, Genesee Depot, WI 53127. Burial with full military honors will be held at 12:45 p.m. on Thursday, March 24th at Prairie Home Cemetery. Please meet at 12:00 noon at Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha for the procession to the cemetery. Memorials are appreciated to Genesee Apostolic Tabernacle.
