Paul William Ekern, of Mundelein, IL, died after a courageous battle with cancer on Monday, March 8, 2010 at Brentwood Nursing and Rehab. Center in Illinois at the age of 58. He was born on December 8, 1951 in Chicago, IL the son of Willie L. and Coral (nee: Parker) Ekern. He attended Farnsworth Elementary and Taft High School. He earned degrees from Wright Jr. College, DeVry Institute of Technology and Triton College. He had worked for Jewel Tea, Graphics & Arts Design Company and Compass Group. His best and last place of employment was as a cook/chef for Cardinal Stritch Retreat Center. He will be sadly missed by his sisters Donna Begitschke of Smyrna, GA and Shirley (Jack) Kaepernick of Waukesha, WI. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 14 at 4:00 PM at Cardinal Stritch Retreat Center, 1300 Stritch Dr. Mundeline, IL 60060. A visitation will be held on Monday, March 15 from 6:00 PM until the 7:30 PM memorial service at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha, WI.
