Paul J. Scholovich

August 17, 1935 — June 9, 2024

Waukesha

Paul John Scholovich, a  man of great faith, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2024.  He was born  August 17, 1935, in Waukesha to John “Jack” and Irma (nee: Merten) Scholovich.   Paul was a 1954 graduate of Waukesha High School and a 1958 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in Horticulture.  On July 2,1960 he married Judith Martin at First Presbyterian Church, Waukesha.

Paul and Judy made their home on a farm in Waukesha for their entire marriage.  They operated a pick your own fruit farm which included strawberries, apples and cherries. Along the way, Paul asked Judy if they could try milking cows on their farm.  They tried, as they say, milking for 42 years of their marriage.  Paul was a proud member of the Golden Guernsey Dairy Co-op.

In 1961, Paul was called to duty with the 32nd National Guard Red Arrow Division.  He spent a year away from his wife and son, Peter.

Paul served as a volunteer fireman and EMT for the Village of Big Bend- Vernon for 26 years.

Paul had many hobbies and was willing to try anything.   His hobbies included wood-working, where he joined a wonderful group of guys, the Fox Vale Sawdusters, who meet every Monday to make wooden Christmas toys for area shelters.  He was also a maple syrup maker, beekeeper and avid gardener, growing strawberries, raspberries, dahlias and gladiolas.  He also loved to rug hook and recently took up knitting winter hats on a loom. Paul attended Wednesday breakfast club with old friends.  He loved the Racine County Fair, showing his handiwork and watching grandkids show their animals.  He adored all of his grandkids beyond compare.

Paul is survived by his devoted wife of almost 64 years, Judy, his children, Peter (Valerie) Scholovich, Julie (David) Moyer, Anne Scholovich  and grandchildren, Samantha Moyer, Charles (Melissa) Moyer, Nicholas Scholovich, Benjamin (Hayley) Scholovich, Jack Scholovich, and great grandson Emerson Moyer.  He is further survived by his sister, Dorothy (Herm) Ruta and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Daniel and Evelyn Martin and infant grandbabies Megan and Kathryn Scholovich.

We will honor Paul with a funeral service at 3:00 PM on Friday, June 14, 2024 at Christ Lutheran Church, S89 W22970 Maple Avenue, Big Bend, WI 53103.  Visitation will be from 12:00 PM (noon)  until the 3:00 PM service at the church.  There will be a private family burial at Prairie Home Cemetery at a later date.   Memorials to Christ Lutheran Church (address above) or a charity of your choice are appreciated.
