Raymond T. Bedwell, Jr., of Waukesha, formerly of Brookfield, died Saturday, March 28, 2009 at the age of 76. He was born on December 15, 1932 in Long Island, New York, the son of Raymond T. Bedwell, Sr. and Mary Mercedes Conrard. After graduating from the University of Dayton in Ohio, Ray was united in marriage to Cosmina "Connie" Pagura on August 29, 1959 in Columbus, Ohio. On that same day they moved to Milwaukee for a teaching position for Ray at Marquette University. Along with being a professor of radio and TV broadcasting, he also maintained that curriculum at Marquette. Later he became a pioneer in establishing and organizing the educational programs at St. Mary's and St. Joseph's Hospitals in Milwaukee. Ray was then an adjunct professor at Cardinal Stritch University for the Hospital Administration program and the MBA program. He went on to own and operate a consulting business for 18 years in general health care management, retiring in 2002. His professional memberships include WISHET, ASTD and ASHET. Ray continued teaching by volunteering as a teacher of English as a Second Language with the Literacy Council of Greater Waukesha. He and his wife are members of St. Joseph Catholic Church. With Ray's lifelong hobby of being a magician, he was a member of International Brotherhood of Magicians and Society of American Magicians. Ray was an excellent baker, and enjoyed making special treats for his family. Ray will be sadly missed by his wife, Cosmina "Connie" of Waukesha; and their children: Mark R. (Cheryl) Bedwell of Hudson, FL, Michael F. (Linda) Bedwell of Brookfield, David J. (Heidi) Bedwell, Elizabeth M. (Gregory Capper) Bedwell; grandchildren: Michelle Bedwell, Melissa Bedwell, Margaret Bedwell, Ashton Taylor Bedwell, and Emmett Bedwell; step-grandchildren: Sherman (Kristina) Bedwell and Ona Broach, her children; and also survived by other relatives and many friends. He is preceded in death by baby grandson, Mercer Davide Bedwell, twin brother of Emmett. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 2, 2009 at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha, WI. from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. A rosary prayer service will be held at 7:30 PM. Services continue on Friday with prayers at the funeral home at 10 AM followed by procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 822 N. East Ave., Waukesha for the 11:00 AM Funeral Mass. Graveside services will immediately follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Waukesha Public Museum, Literacy Council of Greater Waukesha, Waukesha Civic Theatre, the Waukesha Food Pantry, the educational institution of your choice, St. Joseph Catholic Church or St. Vincent DePaul Society at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
