Robert J. "Bob" Chapman, lifelong Mukwonago resident, died from injuries sustained in an auto accident in East Troy on Monday, July 18, 2011 at the age of 86. He was born in Mukwonago on February 23, 1925 to John and Isabelle (nee: Murdock) Chapman. On April 10, 1948 he married Marianna Mae Pettis; she preceded him in death on November 14, 1995. Bob was employed for many years at Miller Brewery. He was a former village of Mukwonago trustee and president of the Mukwonago Seniors for many years. Bob was an avid sports fan, and he enjoyed coaching Land O' Lakes baseball and was very proud to have coached the team to two grand championships. He was a longtime member of St. James Catholic Church and was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Council 7048 and a member of the Fourth Degree Albert Cardinal Meyer Knights of Columbus Assembly 1304. Robert also loved to hunt, fish, play cards, bowl, and golf. He will be sadly missed by his children: Connie (Terry) Mess of Mukwonago; Cindy (Tim) Savin of Waukesha; Randy Chapman of Eagle; Robert (Rita Curnow) Chapman of Minneapolis, MN; Cathy (Tim) Crain of Port Washington; Claudia (Robin) Dorbard of Mukwonago; Barry (Yvonne) Chapman of Hillsboro; and Cheryl Chapman of Pittsville; 19 grandchildren: J.R., Trisha, Shane, Tammy, Gabriel, Jon, Clayton, Allison, Chad, Amber, Ashley, Grant, Derik, Cassandra, James, Jessica, Nicole, Jeannette and Jason, 20 great-grandchildren: Abagail, Craig, Angela, MacKenzie, Bailey, Kylie, Jaden, Melodee, Kayla, Chloe, Dylan, Sawyer, Kyla, Cailey, Kendall, Ava, Dylin, Derek, Luke and Hayden. He is further survived by his brother William (Fern) Chapman of Mukwonago, his sister Pat Chapman of Waukesha, special friend Joan Busch of Mukwonago, sisters-in-law: Ella Hollberg, Georgia (Warren) Woolridge, Barbara (Dwight) Wright, Sandra (Sid) Staton and Iva Peck, brothers-in-law: Juel (Joan) Pettis and Harry Bowey, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his wife Marianna and his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter Colleen Kay Chapman, and sister-in-law Gladys Bowey. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2011 from 3:00 until 8:00PM at St. James Catholic Church, 830 County Road NN East, Mukwonago, WI. The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 22, 2011 at 10:00AM at the church. Graveside services will immediately follow the funeral Mass at St. Peter Cemetery in East Troy.
