Robert “Bob” J. Ruekert of Waukesha died unexpectedly on Friday, May 11, 2018 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 68. He was born in Waukesha on August 29, 1949 the son of William and Catherine (nee Ranstead) Ruekert Sr. He was a 1967 graduate of Catholic Memorial High School. Upon graduating, he proudly served two tours of duty with the United States Air Force where he met his beloved wife, Joyce. They were married on May 6, 1972. Bob earned his bachelor’s degree from Northern Michigan University and spent his career working in the corrections department for the state of Michigan. Bob enjoyed golfing, bike riding and shooting but most of all he loved music and playing the guitar and banjo.
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 46 years, Joyce of Waukesha, his brother John (Carol) Ruekert of Waukesha, his mother-in-law Alice Croon of Cary, IL and his brothers-in-law Jeffrey (Donna) Croon and Steven Croon. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother William “Bill” Ruekert Jr.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 18, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until time of the 12:00 noon memorial service at the Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. Interment will be at a later date at St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Bob’s name are appreciated to the Food Pantry of Waukesha County, 1301 Sentry Drive, Waukesha, WI 53186.
