Robert "Bob" M. Young Jr.

Robert “Bob” M. Young Jr. of Waukesha passed away on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 with his loving family by his side at the age of 79. He was born at home in Wauwatosa, WI on November 7, 1938 the son of Robert M. and Eileen (nee Wahl) Young Sr. He attended Wauwatosa High School (Class of 1956) and went on to earn a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois-Champaign (Class of 1961). Like his father before him, and his brother later on, Bob was president of the U of I Delta Upsilon fraternity. After proudly serving his country in the United States Air Force, Bob spent most of his career working in advertising and public relations.
Bob married in 1961 and had 3 beloved children, Rob, Karol and Stephanie. On January 11, 1975 he married Katharine “Kate” (nee Smith) and became the loving father of Kate’s daughter, Jennifer.
Bob and Kate moved to Colorado in 1985 where Bob enjoyed skiing and other outdoor pastimes. Music was another of Bob's passions. While in college, Bob sang with the Illini Men's Glee Club, and in Denver, he joined the men's barbershop chorus, The Sound Of The Rockies. Bob enjoyed many years performing with the chorus and was also part of a fun, talented barbershop quartet slyly named, The Kowalski Twins. Five years ago Bob and Kate returned to Waukesha to be nearer to family and became members of Blessed Savior Lutheran Church in New Berlin. Bob will always be remembered for his great sense of humor and as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of 43 years, Kate, of Waukesha; his four loving children, Robert M. (Kim) Young III of Whitefish Bay, Karol (Pete) Kennedy of Waukesha, Jennifer Young of Wausau and Stephanie Manhoff, of Medina, OH; his nine cherished grandchildren, Robert IV, Colin, Taylor, James, Alison, Patrick, Nicholas, Grace and Jack; and his brothers and sisters, Sallie (John) Lamers, Leslie (Jackie) Young, Chandler (Shawn) Young, Mark (Liza) Young and Kerri (Carl) McWithey. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2018 from 1:00 pm. until time of the 2 p.m. memorial service at Blessed Savior Lutheran Church, 15250 W. Cleveland Ave., New Berlin, WI 53151. A reception and continued fellowship of Bob’s life will follow the service at church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Katy’s Kloset, 404 Wilmont Dr. Suite D, Waukesha, WI 53189 or Blessed Savior Lutheran Church.
