Robert E. Dornfeld, of East Troy, died on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 79. He was born in Watertown, WI on January 8, 1937 the son of Oscar and Irene (nee Turke) Dornfeld. Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army. On June 7, 1960 he married Betty Lou Eddy and together they celebrated 56 years together. Robert worked for Schneider Transport as a truck driver for many years. He loved to play cards, especially sheepshead and euchre and also loved playing his cherry machines. Most of all he cherished the time he spent with his family.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Betty of East Troy and their children, Theresa (Charles) Heyer of Waukesha and Todd (Paula) Dornfeld of Elkhorn, his six grandchildren, Jessica (Jacob) Bolton, Jennifer (boyfriend DJ) Heyer, Staff Sgt. in the USMC Charles Heyer, Erika Heyer, Allison (Patrick) Fladten and Kaitlyn Dornfeld and two great-grandchildren, Lilly and Brielle. He is further survived by his sisters-in-law Jane Dornfeld and Donna Dornfeld along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers David and Lee Dornfeld.
A celebration of Robert’s life will be held privately by the family. He will be laid to rest at a later date at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Robert’s name are appreciated to the American Cancer Society, N19 W24350 Riverwood Dr. Waukesha, WI 53188.
