Robert J. Gonzalez

Robert J. Gonzalez “Bob” of Milwaukee, formerly of Waukesha passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 20, 2025 at the age of 64. He was born in Waukesha on March 27, 1960, the son of Severo and Nancy (nee Betts) Gonzalez. Robert was an entrepreneur primarily in the structural steel, electrostatic painting and general contracting industries. His most recent venture was taking over ownership of the Funky Monkey in Waukesha following the death of his best friend and brother, Michael. Robert was a tireless advocate for minority contractors. After serving on the board of National Association of Minority Contractors Wisconsin Chapter, he was named president in 2004. He was also named Minority Contractor of the Year in 2006 by Wisconsin Builder. Robert was an avid reader and sportsman especially enjoying baseball, hunting and fishing. He will always be remembered as a wonderful son and the best friend, brother and business partner to his brothers. 

Robert is survived by his parents, Nancy and Severo; his brothers, Jim Gonzalez, Ricky (Colleen) Gonzalez and Bill Gonzalez; nieces and nephews, Justin Gonzalez, Dan Kroha, Nick Gonzalez, Jill Kroha, Anthony Gonzalez, Gia Gonzalez, Phoenix Gonzalez, Nathan Gonzalez, Ashley Brewer, Charlie Slicer and Hunter Reed. He is also survived by other family members and many friends. He was preceded in death by his brother Michael Gonzalez, and sister, Bobbie Jo Reed.

Visitation will take place on Friday, January 31, 2025 from 3:00pm until the funeral service begins at 6:00pm at Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. A continued celebration of Robert’s life will follow and be announced at the service. Interment will be at a later date at Prairie Home Cemetery. Memorials in Robert’s name are appreciated to the American Red Cross.
