Robert Koentop

Robert Frederick. Koentop, 56, of Batavia passed away Friday, February 4, 2011 in East Hartford, Connecticut of unknown causes. He was born September 25, 1954 inWaukesha, WI the son of Donald and Mavene (nee Gowans) Koentop. Robert "Bob" was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Batavia, IL and served many years on the Church Council and with Adult Learning. He was employed with Environmental Restoration, LLC, St. Louis, MO as a program manager of environmental remediation and hazardous materials removal. Bob graduated with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Biology and minor in Environmental Science from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ and St. Joseph High School, Metuchen, NJ. Bob played competitive softball in church and park district A leagues in Batavia. He was a fan of all sports including favorites Chicago Blackhawks, Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bears, and University of Miami Hurricanes. He is survived by his daughters Jayna and Jill Koentop of Batavia IL; a brother Steven (Carmen) Koentop of Tom's River, NJ; his mother Mavene of Waukesha WI; a nephew, David of Atlanta, GA, his aunt and cousins in Waukesha, WI and his former wife Marla Koentop of Batavia. He was preceded in death by his father. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 South Batavia Ave. Batavia, IL. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 10, 2011 at Bethany Lutheran Church, 8 South Lincoln Street Batavia, IL. He will lie in state from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Rev. Steven Srock will officiate. Services will also be held in Waukesha on Friday, February 11, 2011 from 10:00 A.M. until the 11:30 A.M. Prayer Service at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110. S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. Interment will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery in Waukesha.
