Robert L. Malm, of Waukesha, died Monday, October 17, 2016 at Avalon Square at the age of 97. He was born on March 6, 1919, in Phillips, WI, the son of Berndt and Leda (nee Otto) Malm. He was a 1936 graduate of Phillips High School and received bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Carroll College in 1940. He proudly served his country from 1941 until 1946 in the 244th Field Artillery Battalion in the US Army during World War II. On February 14, 1947 he married Elizabeth (nee Hannon) Malm, she proceded him in death on August 12, 2007. For many years he co-owned Hardy-Malm Insurance Agency, until his retirement in 1993. He was an Elk’s member for more than 60 years and Past Exalted Ruler of the Waukesha Elks Lodge #400. He was a former board member of the Wisconsin Independent Insurance Agents Association, past president of the Waukesha County Agents Association, former board member of the Friends of Retzer Nature Center and Friends of Carroll College and past president of Friends of Nelson House. He loved his family & friends, baseball, time up north, lifelong learning, gardening, traveling, walking, and life itself.
He will be sadly missed by his children Mary Beth Malm (Charles) Krucky of Milwaukee, Bruce Malm of Los Angeles, CA and David (Lori) Malm of Green Bay. Dear grandfather of Andrew Malm of Appleton. He is further survived by his brother Alan (Marie) Malm of Merrill, WI, other relatives and friends. In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his son Terry in 1959, his parents and sister Jean.
Visitation and both services will be held on Friday, October 28th at RANDLE DABLE FUNERAL HOME, 1110 S. Grand Ave, Waukesha. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until the Elks Lodge of Sorrow and the memorial service begin at 3:00 PM and then again after the services, continuing until 4:00 PM. Burial will take place on Saturday, October 29th at 11:30 a.m. at St. Stephens Catholic Cemetery in Stevens Point. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to any charity touched by Bob’s involvement over the years.
