Robert Ruiz Sr. a longtime Waukesha resident passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at the Virginia Health & Rehab at the age of 86. He was born in Wauwatosa on May 23, 1933 the son of Joseph and Maria (nee Hernandez) Ruiz. He proudly served his country in the United States Army in the Korea Armored Division as a tank driver. On May 18, 1959 he married Santa Correa in San Antonio, TX. Robert was an extremely hard-worker and worked for Navistar for many years. Later he worked for Gyros West and Brookfield Square, as he never really “retired”. Robert was a sweet and loving man, who loved animals, especially his dogs, cats and his bird.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 60 years, Santa of Waukesha and their two sons, Roy Ruiz (Sonya Jensen-Ruiz) of Brookfield and Robert Ruiz Jr. of Missouri and his grandchildren, Anthony Rappette, Sabrina West, Annika Ruiz and Shaun Stacey. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.
A brief visitation will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. until time of the 2:30 p.m. funeral service with military honors at Wisconsin Memorial Park-Chapel of the Flowers (Main Building), 13235 W. Capitol Dr., Brookfield. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Robert’s name are appreciated to the Clement J. Zablocki VAMC - General Post Fund – GPF 9070, 5000 W. National Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53295.
