Roberta S. Johnson a lifelong Waukesha resident passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Seasons Hospice at the age of 95. She was born in Waukesha on June 29, 1922 the daughter of Herman and Anabel (nee Mann) Salen. She was a 1940 graduate of Waukesha High School and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from UW-Madison in 1944. Roberta was a proud homemaker raising her family after a short career in social work. An avid volunteer, she worked for the Red Cross and was actively involved with the Waukesha Service Club, serving as President in 1962. Roberta loved to travel and was a longtime member of the Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her sons, Dr. James R. (Judy B.) Johnson of Waukesha and Harry L. (Kathleen) Johnson of Tulsa, OK, her grandchildren, Diane (Mike O’Connor) Johnson, Carter (Mary) Johnson, Margaret (Ken) Mercer and Robert (Candice) Johnson, great-grandchildren, Amelia, William, Norah, Madeline, Lila, Sabrina and Victoria. She is further survived by her niece, Michelle Clarke-Reinstein (Lorre Reinstein) along with other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Harry L. Johnson in 1995 and her sister Sallie Clarke.
Private services will be held at a later date. Interment will be at Nashotah Mission Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Roberta’s name are appreciated to the Waukesha Service Club, 1444 S.
