Robert Otto “Bob” Dittmann, of Waukesha, died on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at the Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee at the age of 89. He was born in Chicago, IL on August 24, 1923 the son of Otto and Hattie (nee Chmielewski) Dittmann. Robert graduated from high school in Chicago and on April 18, 1948 he married the former Evelyn Thomas in Reno, Nevada. Bob proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Waukesha County Chapter #5 and of the Soat Vergenz VFW Post #721.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Evelyn of Waukesha and their children: Patti (Nicholas) Patti of Waterford, WI Pauline Dittmann of Wisconsin Dells, WI Steven (Claire) Dittmann of Ettrick, WI, Deloras (David) Vind of Arcadia WI, Mary (Blair) Freiberg of Waukesha and John (Sharlene) Dittmann of Sullivan, his grandchildren: Kirk (Kim) Patti of Tampa, FL, Shawn (Kristine) Patti of Newbury, MA, Jennifer Jones of Lannon, Jeremiah (Elizabeth) Dittmann of San Francisco, CA, Jacob (Alissa) Freiberg of Wauwatosa, Zachary and Kayla Dittmann of Ettrick, WI, Kelsey (Matthew) Papala of Wauwatosa, Emily Freiberg of Waukesha, Kathryn Freiberg of Milwaukee, Evan and Spencer Dittmann of Sullivan, and Stephanie and Samuel Freiberg of Waukesha, and his great-grandchildren: Brayden Buchholz and Blair A. Freiberg. He is further survived by his sister Mary Lou (the late James) Nibbe of Chicago, IL along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his son Richard August 24, 1989 and his parents.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2012 from 4:00 until the VFW Memorial Service at 6:45 PM followed by the religious funeral service at 7:00 PM all at Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Avenue, Waukesha. Rev. Steven Will is presiding. Graveside services with full military honors will be held on Friday, October 26, 2012 at 10:00AM at Highland Memorial Park.
