Rose A. Dowdle

Rose A. Dowdle of Waukesha passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Hartland Place surrounded by her family at the age of 76. She was born on June 19, 1940 the daughter of Prichard and Mary (nee Goble) Cecil. She began life as a coalminer’s daughter in the hills of Kentucky. On December 22, 1956, she married Louis Von Dowdle; he preceded her in death on March 14, 2016. Rose was an entrepreneur starting multiple business endeavors in her life ending in her ownership of Rose Ann’s Maids for almost 30 years. She was a very social, comforting and outgoing person who had a great love for children, the elderly and people in need. Rose loved horses and dogs, especially her beloved dog Daisy that she leaves behind.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Chester “Chet” (Patricia) Calhoun of Plano, IL, Teresa Funmaker of Waukesha, Curtis (Vickie) Dowdle of Eagle and Kaylene Dowdle (Mike) of Waukesha. She was the dear grandmother of Chad (Patricia), Amy (Joshua), Tiffany, Jan, Shanna (Juan), Russell, Kiel, Eric, Timothy (Kathryn), Kaity, Nikolaus and Jakob and great-grandmother of Angel, Alexeandra, Clayton, Micah, Lynea, Cameron, Braden, Elianna, Scarlet, Leocadia, Brayden, Kaitlyn, Landen, Liam and Asher.
She is further survived by her sister, Sue (Dennis Neilson) Covington, her brothers Rex (Barbara) Cecil, Claude Cecil and Larry (Gerri) Cecil along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband Louis Von Dowdle and her parents she was preceded in death by 8 brothers and sisters.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Hartland Place where over the last year provided Rose and her family loving care and allowing her to fulfill her final calling of caring and comforting those around her. A special thank you is also extended to Allay Home & Hospice for their care and comfort in Rose’s final days.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2017 from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the 12:00 noon funeral service at the Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. Entombment will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Allay Home & Hospice, 325 N. Corporate Dr. Suite 260 Brookfield, WI 53045.
