Rose Mcilhone

June 15, 1940 — November 15, 2010

Rose L. McIlhone of Waukesha, died unexpectedly on Monday, November 15, 2010 at the age of 70.  She was born on June 15, 1940 in Stevens Point, WI, the daughter of Edwin and Theresa (nee Schultz) Derezinski.  Rose graduated from Maria High School in Stevens Point, where she enjoyed being a member of the drum and bugle corps.  After attending Alverno College, she graduated from the Wisconsin State College at Stevens Point with a degree in Home Economics.  Rose was united in marriage to John McIlhone on August 7, 1965; he preceded her in death on  May 24, 2006.  In her younger years, she was a school teacher for a short time.  For many years Rose worked for St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waukesha as a home economist for several priests for over 20 years, and later worked in the parish office.  She was also a past member and president of Christian Mothers.  In her retirement, she continued working as a volunteer at St. Mary's in all aspects of the church.  She enjoyed her Friday night "Fish Club".  Rose had a special quality of being able to make friends wherever she went.  Rose will be deeply missed by her three children:  Jennifer McIlhone of Milwaukee, Katie (Jim) Heraty of Chicago, and Michael (Amanda) McIlhone of Milwaukee; two grandchildren:  Haley and William Heraty; and siblings:  Anne (Jere) Fluno of IL, Frank (Judy) Derezinski of MN, Richard (Sue) Derezinski of Stevens Point, and Rita Derezinski of GA.  She was also preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother, Norbert.  Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2010 from 9:30 AM until the 11:30 AM funeral Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 225 S. Hartwell Ave., Waukesha.  Fr. Howard Haase, Fr. Neil Zinthefer, Fr. John Twomey, and Fr. Jim Volkert will concelebrate the Mass.  Memorials may be made in Rose's name to Interfaith Senior Programs, 210 NW Barstow St., Suite 101, Waukesha, WI 53188 or to JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) Southeastern WI Chapter, 3333 N.
