Royal "Roy" Neumann

Royal C. “Roy” Neumann, longtime Waukesha resident went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 07, 2010 at Waukesha Springs at the age of 94.  He was born on February 28, 1916 in Milton Junction, the son of Carl and Rosa (nee Gillis) Neumann.  As a young man, he learned the electrical trade from his brother-in-law Fred Speer of Fort Atkinson and also attended school as an apprentice in Watertown, WI.  During this time he was involved in amateur boxing (as a lightweight) in Beloit and Janesville, WI.  On October 15, 1939 he married the former Doris Mittelstadt in Fall Creek, WI.  While in that area he was part of Rural Electrification in Wisconsin and later in Indiana.  They moved to Waukesha and he worked for Salter Electric.  During that time Roy proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.  He started his own business, Neumann Electric, in the late 1950’s until his retirement in 1986.  During his retirement he worked part time for a time for Delzer Lithograph making deliveries in the Waukesha/Milwaukee area.  Roy was an avid swimmer and was a member of a local scuba diving club, which took him and his family on campouts all over the state.  He was an Explorer Boy Scout leader, a member of the American Legion DJ Martin Post 8, the ELKS, and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.  He loved to fish, bowl, golf, and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan.  He attended Elmbrook Church where he was an usher for many years and while there participated in many groups.  He will be sadly missed by his wife of over 70 years, Doris of Waukesha, his children: Karen (William) May of Crandon and Dean (Carol) Neumann of Menomonee Falls, and Carol (the late Jerome) Petrie of Waukesha. His eight grandchildren: Marla May (Jim) Newton of Madison, Tonimarie (Cody) Stratman of Bloomington, IL, Tiffany (Billy) Haddow of Nekoosa, Shelley (Jack) Palubicki of Green Bay, Leta (Jesse) LaValle of Waukesha, Kelley (Sandi) Petrie, of Waukesha, Marnie (Frank) Richards of Milwaukee and Jaloo (Mike) Becker of Waukesha, (9) great-grandchildren and one great/great grandchild. Step/grandchildren are Elaine Avery and Burton (Elizabeth) Avery of Minneapolis, MN and (three) step/great grandchildren. Roy is further survived by: nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his three sisters Beatrice, Toledia, and Octavia and his brother Orvind.  The family wishes to thank the nursing staff on the second floor of Waukesha Springs, especially Donna and Jackie as well as the Wheaton Franciscan Home Health & Hospice for their kindness and compassion for Royal.  Visitation will be held on Friday, August 13, 2010 from 1:00PM until 3:00PM followed by the funeral service at 3:00PM all at Elmbrook Church, 777 South Barker Road, Brookfield, WI 53045.  Full military honors will be presented following the service at church.  Burial will be held at Trinity Cemetery in Fall Creek.  If desired, memorials are appreciated to Elmbrook Church (address above).  For further information, please call Randle-Dable Funeral, Cremation and Preplanning Services at (262) 547-4035, or go to www.waukeshafunerals.com to leave an on-line tribute.
