Rufus Barnes Fisher

Rufus Barnes “Barney” Fisher passed away peacefully the morning of Monday, November 25, at the age of 92. He was born in Tabor City, North Carolina on May 24, 1932, to parents Ernest Fisher and Lula Wright.

After finishing High School Rufus joined the U.S. Navy the summer of 1951, serving during the Korean War. Rufus married his wife June who preceded him in death on January 29, 2008, and they began their family. Always a dedicated and hard worker, Rufus worked as a farmer in his younger years and then as a maintenance machinist, working for Babcock & Wilcox and AO Smith. As a machinist he was able to fix just about anything and with great patience taught those around him how to do the same. Following his retirement Rufus and June were full time RV’ers traveling all over the states. He enjoyed rock music, thrifting, spending time in nature mostly fishing, camping, gardening, feeding the squirrels, and “taking care” of any chipmunks that stepped foot in his garden. He was a respectful, supportive, and dedicated man who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. 

He will be missed by his children; Timothy Fisher, Cindy Fisher, and Starla Fisher; grandchildren, Trevis Fisher, Timothy Fisher, Matthew Fisher, Lucas Karpinski, MacKenzie Karpinski, Kyle Walther (Tabatha Webber), Nichole Johnson, and Alyssa (Logan) Lindsey; great grandchildren; Timmy, Khaleesi, Jaidyn, Ivan, Michael, Miles, Bryson, Kinsley, Ashlan, Lachlan, Landry, Aydon, Alivea and Delilah. He is preceded in death by his daughter Trina Yetzke (mother of Trevis Fisher), wife, and parents. 

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Funeral Service at Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home, 1110 South Grand Avenue, Waukesha, WI 53186. A private burial will take place at Prairie Home Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are appreciated in Rufus’ name to a charity of your choice.
