Russell M. Schaefer, of Waukesha, died Thursday, May 6, 2010 at LindenGrove Health Care Center in Waukesha at the age of 96. He was born on August 4, 1913 in North Prairie. On October 6, 1936 he married the former Alice Neff. He had worked for 36 years for the Waukesha County Highway Department, retiring in 1977. He was an avid Bucks and Brewers fan and loved to play Sheepshead. He loved children, especially his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his children: Sally (David) Blaedow of Waukesha, Kenneth (Gail) Schaefer of Dousman and Dean (Sharon) Schaefer of Pewaukee. He is further survived by 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, his sister Carol Schaefer, and brothers Lester Palmer and Donald (Joyce) Palmer all of Waukesha, along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Alice in 2003, and brothers and sisters. A private family service was held on Monday, May 10, at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave. Burial took place at Summit Cemetery.
