Ruth Elizabeth Raymond, age 80, died unexpectedly, yet peacefully in her home in the company of her four beloved rescue cats.
She was preceded in death by her parents Clifford Delos and Esther Mae (Lizer) Raymond; brothers Herbert Raymond, Delos (Catherine) and Ronald Raymond; sisters Hazel (Warren) Jacobitz, Shirley (Charles) Pohle, Delores Cummings and Evelyn (Eldrid) Cardwell. Ruth is survived by her sister Maryann (Robert) Schaeffer and sister-in-law Catherine Raymond; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Though Ruthie never did make it to Montana to marry a cowboy (a dream she once admitted to), she did have a long career with Briggs and Stratton until her retirement and enjoyed playing on both bowling and softball leagues. Ruthie enjoyed showing her German shepherds in competitions in her earlier years and loved to landscape her yard with lots of flowers and a vegetable garden. She had a strong compassion for animals and was the neighborhood stray cat rescuer.
Hugely independent and mechanically inclined, Ruthie performed much of her own home repairs, referencing the volumes of home repair books stacked high on her workbench. And, up until her passing, Ruthie refused offers from many of her kind neighbors to mow the lawn or clear the sidewalk of snow, insisting she had to stay active. It is to those same neighbors that the family of Ruthie would like to sincerely thank for all the kindness, support and care you lovingly gave to her.
Grave-side services, per Ruthie’s request, will take place on September 6th, 2019 at the Lincoln Memorial Cemetery in Milwaukee, WI alongside her twin brother Ronnie.
Memorials can be made in memory of Ruth to the Humane Animal Welfare Society (HAWS) of Waukesha, WI (P.O. Box 834, 53187), or your local no-kill animal shelter.
