Sandra L. Young

November 8, 1943 — March 30, 2025

Waukesha

Sandra Lee Young, of Waukesha, WI, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2025, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. Sandra will remain 81 years young.

Born on November 8, 1943, in Waukesha to Thomas and Mabel (née Tessmann) Young, Sandra was a proud lifelong resident of the city. She graduated from Waukesha High School in 1962 and dedicated much of her professional life to telecommunications. She worked as a Directory Assistance Supervisor at Ameritech and was a proud union member of the Communications Workers of America. After retirement, she continued to serve Waukesha for an additional ten years at the customer service desk of the Waukesha Freeman.

Sandra was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her beloved children: Kenneth Barten of Union Grove, WI; Kelly Trautman (Brian) of Waukesha, WI; Kristine Anderson (Chad) of Waukesha, WI; and Kimberlee Coronado (Anthony) of Waukesha, WI. She was the cherished grandmother of Eric Trautman (Teah), Heather Sedlmeier (Matt), Hannah Anderson (Adam Axtell), Tyler Schwartz (Dustin), Sarah Olson, Zander Coronado, Amelia Anderson, Adrianna Coronado, Andrew Coronado, and Ashlee Coronado. She was also blessed with great-grandsons Issac and Axel Trautman, and Michael and Marcus Sedlmeier.

Sandra is further survived by her sister Kathleen of Port Washington and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Mabel Young, and her siblings, Thomas, Donald, and Kenneth.

In addition to raising her family and working full-time, Sandra was a loving caregiver. She cared selflessly for her parents, Thomas and Mabel, and her uncles, Art and Alvin, during the final stages of their lives—offering them dignity, comfort, and unwavering compassion when they needed it,

Sandra will be remembered for her wit, warmth, and deep love for her family. A lifelong fan of the Milwaukee Brewers, she loved nothing more than listening to Bob Uecker’s play-by-play commentary, often muting the television to enjoy his radio broadcast. She was a voracious reader who especially enjoyed biographies, historical fiction, and historical romance, generously donating her books to the Waukesha Public Library. She was also an excellent baker who enjoyed making homemade bread; her family will especially miss the cherished tradition of her Christmas Kranzkuchen. Westerns were among her favorite pastimes, and she was a devoted fan of John Wayne and Jimmy Stewart.

A remembrance of Sandra’s life will be held on Saturday, April 5, at Randle-Dable-Brisk Funeral Home in Waukesha, WI, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., with an informal service to follow.

Memorials can be made to the family, who will divide the proceeds among Sandra’s favorite charities.

She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
