Serena A. Freitag, age 88 of Waukesha, died Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at Waukesha Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 21, 1918 in Marblehead, WI, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (nee Czajkowski) Kennedy. She graduated from St. Joseph Grade School, then from Waukesha High School in 1937. She was united in marriage to Harlow J. Freitag on June 15, 1940 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, where she was a lifelong member. She was a member of Christian Women at St. Joseph, serving as president for several years, and was also a member of their Holy Dusters and Bethany Guild. Along with being a devoted mother of 12 children, she "went to work" at the age of 60 for Avalon Manor where she worked for 15 years before retiring. Serena will be sadly missed by her daughters: Kathy (Fred) Huebner of Waukesha, Nancy Singer of Waukesha, "Inchy" Mary (Dale) Baldowsky of Mukwonago, Dottie McCann of Waukesha, "Rickie" Christine (Jose) Hiracheta of Waukesha, Debbie (Eric) DeShong of Waukesha, Joan (John) Heiden of Oak Creek, and Ann (Richard) Braatz of Oxford; her sons: Michael Freitag and Tim (Marianne) Freitag both of Waukesha, and Todd Freitag of Tampa, FL. Serena will also be very sadly missed by her grandchildren: Freddy, Nikki, Travis, Paul, Dale Jr. (MaryAnna), Josh (Kim), Nathan, Jenny (Jeff), Leanne, Jared, Kayla, Kristen, Erin, Jeremy, Christopher, Brittany, John Jr., Jason, Sarah, Richie, Matthew; and by her great "grape" grandchildren: Isabelle, Jasmine, Gregory, Kaylynn, Laren, and Payton. She will also be greatly missed by her good shopping friend, Vi Tinnes. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harlow, and her daughter, Judy. Also by her brothers: Leo, Henry, Sylvester, Alois, Norbert, and Giles "Mike" Kennedy; sisters: Genevieve and Liona "Pat" Kennedy, and her parents. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 30, 2007 at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Vigil Service will take place at 7:00 pm. Services continues on Tuesday, May 1, 2007 with prayers at the funeral home at 10:15 AM, followed by a procession to St. Joseph Catholic Church for the funeral Mass at 11:00 AM.
